What’s wrong with being a do-er?

I’m coming to the point where I tell myself, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Being a do-er means that shit gets done. And I get things done. I’ve had this rant rattling around in my head for almost two weeks. The biggest critique that they came up with is that I am do-er and not an achiever. And that’s apparently a bad thing. Who the FRAK else is going to get shit done?!?  You need do-ers . People who are conscientious and hard-workers and not just out for their own ambition and climbing over and on the backs of others. People that make things happen in the background so those so-called achievers shine. People with a work ethic and humility and who don’t mind just getting the work done so they can pay their bills and maybe have some mental and physical energy left over for their hobbies.

If you want to see big changes

Start small and stay consistent I'm in the process of getting myself set up for a butt-kicking 2018. I found the Passion Planner , signed up for the free template download, and decided I'm going to try it out for the month of January and see if I can make that a habit. I'll be combining it with the Staples Arc system because I have a few personal project ideas floating around that don't quite fit into the Passion Planner setup. Journaling with pen and paper is something I've been trying to get back to since last year when I started The Artist's Way (or maybe the beginning of this year? It's been a long year). I also increased my Moleskine and other journals collection exponentially, so I had better start using them. So many ideas, so little time, and even less focus.

I'm explicit

So ... I was getting ready to write a post about how bored I am and running out of topics (darn writer's block) -- when one literally hits me in my face. My blog has been blocked from work. For being a parked domain. Which is isn't. But still ... I didn't think I was doing that much on it. So, what do you want to read about here?

Why no, I don’t blog for money

I had a very interesting lunch today and it made me realize some things about myself. I already knew I wasn’t money motivated, but I really am NOT money motivated. On some topics, I just couldn’t relate. The main thoughts going through my head included “Who? What?” and “Why?” Who : are these people they are talking about? Who are these designers? What : I’ve never heard about that. And generally I consider myself fairly well-informed. Why : would you say/do/think that??? I knew I was an oddball, but wow, either I’m out of it, I’m travelling in the wrong circles, or being money-motivated leads to … I don’t know what it leads to. The only thing I am searching for in life right now is contentment. I’m not denying that money is useful. BOY, do I know that it’s necessary . But the things I would use it for, compared with the things other people use it for, are just at opposite ends of the spectrum. But hey, if you want to give me money, for a little bit of work, and some vis...

6 Steps To Better Blogging - Lessons From The Pooh

I found this fascinating quote today: Given that the happiness and feelings of his friends are Pooh’s chief concern (other than hunny, that is), he’d likely build a strong community as a blogger . Here are six social media lessons we can all learn from the lovable bear who’s stuffed with fluff. 6 Steps To Better Blogging - Lessons From The Pooh , Jan 2009 I like the way this was written, and the more I seem to be getting dragged into social media and interacting on the web, I may have to take this advice seriously.

writing bug

I definitely have the writing bug again. I am actively seeking out writing assignments. Well, somewhat passively, but getting lots of active responses. I can thank twitter for this :) Who knew. It's as addictive to me as IRC ever was and yet more interactive and informative. And now it's time to get ready for Joy's first gymnastics lesson.

Port

Thank you plb. Still working on that bottle I got a few months ago, but on nights like this, it comes in SO handy. I can sleep fairly peacefully and not wake up groggy. Which is a good thing. Work and all. One of these days I will get back to proper blogging without all of the photos getting in the way. I used to have witty things to say, right? In the meantime, read my twitter stream over there to the left. Micro-blogging at it's ... at my best.

NaNoWriMo

I did it, I joined NaNoWriMo yesterday. I better get writing. A whole week has gone by since the start of it. Think I can spew 50K words in 3 weeks? And maybe have something good come out of it?
