Tell Me Thursday: Ringling Bros.& Barnum & Bailey's 'FUNundrum'

Back in August we went to the circus, I was a little slow getting the photos up and I think there are a few more videos I need to post. Better late than never, right? I LOVE the circus (all you animal activists can crucify me later, I have nothing but good memories). I have loved the circus, and especially Barnum & Bailey's ever since I was a small child. My parents couldn't afford much, but they managed to take us whenever Ringling was in town. The motorcycles in the cage, the animal trainers (does anyone remember Gunther Gebel-Williams ? The way he was with his tigers -- Siberian tigers have been my favorite animal ever since.) At one point I am sure that I wanted to run away and join the circus. My brother certainly did. My not so great photos from the Greatest Show on Earth FUNundrum takes you back to the "freak show" beginnings of the circus, but it's well done and not really freakish at all. The acts are designed show off human strength, ag...

Wordless Wednesday: Addiction

Talk Geek to Me, Baby

Ready for some good, clean, fun? Recently, quite by accident, Scott McGrew and I have developed quite the meme on twitter. It all started on April 26th . Well, maybe a day or so earlier, but that is the first time I used #talkgeektome (yup, I take full responsibility, ok, partial. He replied and kept it going, and going and going…). It was supposed to be a joke. Not an ongoing intellectual HAWT (both definitions, thankyouverymuch) conversation. I think I was debating on whether or not to get a USB powered external HDD or go for the one with an external power supply. I still haven’t decided, by the way. But I did order a replacement power supply for my existing Western Digital HDD ( Zoe got bored one day… another story). I think I have been having too much fun getting to know people with extremely sexy minds and clean (enough for government work) minds. And I’m learning so much!!! I have my own brand of geek, but as we get more and more into it I’m learning a lot. Especially ...

today at the farmers market

joy showed an interest in developing a green thumb and i got about 15lbs of fruit which my children will devour post-haste. and i stayed within budget! the star of Bethlehem flowers were the most expensive, well and the 2lbs of cherries.

Encouragement :)

Q : I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life; is this true? A : Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it... don't waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually.. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap. Q : Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables? A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies.. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable products. Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake? A: No, not at all. Wine is made from fruit.. Brandy is distilled wine, that means they take the water out of the frui...

Aquarium of the Pacific

View Album Get your own Joy and I went to the Aquarium about a month ago. Had a lot of fun touching manta rays and little sharks (didn't know they were related, did ya?), seeing Dory like fish ( just keep swimming, just keep swimming ), and enjoying the crowds. There was a special event that day. I hope to go again when it's less crowded. And of course, Joy had to add another member to her stuffed animal collection ... Man, I spoil that girl.

Hey! They're still around!

For those of you have been on the net for a while, you may remember getting the Darwin Award emails on a regular basis. I had no idea that they were still around. So ... for your viewing pleasure ....
