Am I a Whole30 Failure?

Yes, I am and I am not afraid to admit it. No justification. And I am not going to let it stress me out. There are some reasons behind it that make me okay with failure. Usually I would be beating myself up over failing something like this. First off, I am so sick and tired of eggs - and I love eggs!,  especially since I can't have cheesy omelettes.  Not that I usually put cheese in my omelettes, but that flat out restriction is really irksome. I like a light breakfast of Greek yogurt and fruit. The lack of raw honey every day is almost worse than the chocolate restriction. I don't have food relationship issues. Food and I get along very well. I now feed my body whole, nutritionally dense, natural foods to keep me healthy (and fit, we're getting there). Being on this for one week is causing me more anxiety than I care to deal with. Occasionally I splurge on the non-natural, not-so-nutritionally dense items, my body reminds me why I don't do that any more, and we ...

Mamavation Monday: Renewed Motivation - I think

193.4 Wedgies are great motivation . Especially when you get them on a daily basis. No, I am not re-living junior high. My underwear is giving me wedgies and I think my weight is redistributing itself. Honestly, I am so tired broke after buying new work clothes that fit that don't make me look like a stuffed sausage, and now this. But going commando in a skirt and heels is out of the question.

Cookies to Lose Weight?

In an effort to eat breakfast, lose weight, and introduce flax seed into my diet, I grabbed some of Kashi's Cookies this past weekend when I went grocery shopping. Twisted psychology, I know, but I could have sworn that they used to make breakfast cookies. Kashi : Our Food : Cookies : Our cookies combine 7 Whole Grains with hearty, natural ingredients like peanuts, raisins, cranberries, shredded coconut, and dark chocolate, for a chewy, home-baked taste." Or maybe that's Quaker Oats ... but anyways! Being in the corporate rat race as I am (that's sarcasm folks, I'm currently a code jockey, sort of ) and having the lousiest commute ever outside of New York, I break a lot of "rules".

Activia Challenge

So, I'm a little tired of IBS, bloating, and generally feeling like crap. Or waking up with a mostly flat tummy and being bloated and uncomfortable by lunch time. I decided to take the Activia Challenge . I actually started around the 18th or a little before, but I haven't been eating one every day like you're supposed to. Today I signed up on the website (hey, there's a coupon involved). Maybe I will use the tracker . Though the environmental geek in me is wondering "Why isn't there an app for that? Why make me waste paper? Then I have to carry it around" -- because, you know, I don't eat it at the same time every day. Here's to breakfast. And hopefully less IBS crap. Digestive Tip Of The Day Exercise regularly and abstain from smoking. While most people know that exercise offers overall health benefits, most people don’t know that it’s good for your digestive tract, too.† † Source: www.dannonprobioticscenter.com

Chronic Pain

I am always in pain because it's a fact of my life now. I can deal with the dull, low throbbing. That I can ignore and get on with my life with generally no problem. Then there are days when I hurt everywhere. I wake up in pain. Most often in my back, but lately my back, neck, shoulders, hips, and sometimes hands just HURT! And that much thoracic pain usually causes my IBS to act up. What a way to start the morning. Every morning. And Lord please, the days when my IBS acts up when I am commuting. THAT'S THE WORST, the most mortifyinghorribleembarrasing moments of my life, mainly because I think I have gotten off scott-free for the day. And then, BAM! make a run for the bathroom, the nearest bathroom, any bathroom.   A lot of my stress and high anxiety are caused by my chronic pain and vice versa. A never-ending cycle (not to be confused with the Never-Ending Story ). My chronic pain could be a symptom of clinical depression, but I haven't been diagnosed as s...
