My Afflation

Storm clouds over a field Went for a hike. It started beautifully if a little humid. Opted to take a trail instead of staying on the paved loop. Hear a roll of thunder, hope it's just the train. If only we had been so lucky. I had just been contemplating my success at not getting muddy while at the park. Mother Nature has a sick sense of humor. Not only did I get muddy, we got drenched through! My shoes were squelching while running with Pluto who was having none of it. Just as I would get him down to a walk, another roll of thunder or flash of lightning would send him dashing off again! After the storm the clouds looked pretty awesome though. Only had the iPhone SE on me. Does that count for  #shotoniphone ? Originally posted on my instagram .

Okay,  it's Thursday, but it's so blustery outside all I can think about is Winnie the Pooh and Piglet. The wind storm has been going on since last night, so I guess that qualifies as "Windsday".

Tweet Well, it's STILL raining in SoCal. I forget what day it is. I know it's been raining since last Thursday or Friday. My feet got soaked on Friday. Don't wear boots with "flexible soles" if the weather is inclement. And no heel. Flat and comfortable, but the wet socks and feet weren't worth it. So, for inspiration, a few melodies through the ages:

I just had to try out the video camera on my Vibrant. It caught the lightening pretty amazingly well for no other light source. It started to hail as I filmed, so I took cover on my porch. The tree in my front yard makes a good shadow. I also played at getting some lightening shots with my D-SLR but haven't had time to upload those yet. Do you ever brave the weather to get an amazing shot of nature in action?

Well, it had to end sometime. The  Autumn Equinox is this week.  Even here in SoCal we observe the end of summer. Boots come out to replace sandals. Jeans and sweaters come out at night. Non-natives start complaining about the lack of "weather" (which, after living 9+ years in Oregon, I maintain is overrated). Ski passes are bought. Some of us mourn the end of summer. Especially when it was so short and went by so quickly that we could barely enjoy it . You may not like Katy Perry (I do, she’s a hoot!!), but I think her song was this year’s summer anthem. It was a dark and stormy. .. day. It rained in L.A. today. Usually it's hot, OK 75-80 degrees F and people are looking forward to swimming pools opening over the Memorial Day weekend. I'm still wearing my winter coat and not overheated at all. Yes, that is a light dusting of snow on the foothills. Summer, where art thou?

Does anyone else see something wrong with this picture? It's going to be in the low 80's today!!!! It's DECEMBER It's supposed to be in the 60's. But I don't miss the rain and wind storms.

OK, i know this isn't the South, but I took a shower, got dressed, went outside, took Zoe and Joy for a walk, and come back dripping. It WASN'T an especially exhaustive nor brisk walk. just a pleasant jaunt to Blockbuster and back (1.3 miles one way according to Google Maps). I'm blaming the humidity for my excessive "glow" because I am not breathing heavy, nor passing out from exertion. Just really thirsty. ICK, UGH, There is only one reason in the world to get this sweaty and walking is NOT it. Off to get the dog groomed and babysit my little boy. Call me if you want to chat. You know the number.

This sucks! First beautiful day in weeks and i'm home in bed with either the stomach flu or food poisoning. WHY can't it be a gloomy day? My boss probably thinks I'm taking a sick day due to good weather -- yes, Oregonians take sick days due to good weather. only good thing about this is the bloat has gone down.

Let the allergies begin!!! Along with the beautiful spring like weather (which I am loving, no fear there) comes the scratchy throat, sneezes, and all other manner of feelings of un-wellbeing. All thanks to one of the most beautiful flowering trees you can find. Off to take Allegra (sitting + Benadryl = sleepy Annette) and hope that my throat finally starts to feel better. I'm starting to get one of those sexy raspy voices interrupted occasionally by a cough.
