Working from home

Usually, I enjoy working from home. Today was the exception that proves the rule. Today I was WFH because I finally took Joy to get seen about her  insomnia . I had planned on being imminently productive ( cue laughter ). There were good things and bad things about today's arrangement. Usually I have no issues, but today my internet seemed to freeze at the worst moments. Taking three hours to get a few emails out, not being able to do my analytics report, multiple reboots .... and having workus interruptus from said tween asking for food and being hormonal (it really sucks that she's on my cycle but hasn't started yet. I pray she doesn't have PMDD because if today is any indication, I am going to need a CASE of Bailey's and at least 5lbs of chocolate each month ! Boys are so much easier, even if they do turn into aliens). And once I finally got into a groove it was time to leave for her appointment. Also, insomnia/sleep deprivation + hormonal tween + PM...

Insomnia Is Going to be the Death of Me

Or maybe my daughter. She's had insomnia ALL WEEK !!! Which, in turn, means that I have gotten little to no sleep. Yesterday I was on the brink of losing my mind and my emotional cool. Luckily, I have people in my life who bring me some sanity. A little emotional reset was and is desperately needed. I am so glad today is Friday. Until I remember that softball season is upon us and there is practice tomorrow. No rest for the wicked. Just take a look at what missing a little sleep does to you... Pin It

Dreaming out loud

This week has been particularly stressful, and I might be blowing things out of proportion. I have performance anxiety about work -- mainly because I'm not living up to my personal expectations and my personal life keeps interfering. I had an incredibly detailed dream last night / early this morning in which I wrote something for work, sent it around for peer review, and was brightly edited in red. Lots of red. And there were snide comments about the quality of my writing. And lots of LOL in the conversation as if I wasn't on the email thread. And there are other things stressing me out. Most of them financial. And familial. My divorce is taking forever and a day to finalize, and for the exact reason that I knew it would. Really, it's very simple. You don't always get your way and I'm done caving to your demands. And what *you want* isn't always best. However, if you're willing to compromise for a measly 6 months, I'm willing to revisit the issue and ...

Exhausted

… again. I don’t think I’ve gotten more than 4 or 5 good solid hours of sleep in the last 7 days. Some days even less, only one or two due to insomnia, children with nightmares, or hip/back pain. Despite all of my chiropractic therapy, I’m really afraid that I might be developing arthritis in my hips, knees, and hands. It runs in the family. I’ve had CTS before (had to use a brace for 6 weeks!!! thank goodness someone loaned me Dragon Naturally Speaking at the time. An English Lit major not able to type up her papers … oi!), that was no fun. I’ve given in. between @ jasperblu , @ phraktyl , and two co-workers I am going to try acupuncture. My office-mate gave me the name and number of the doctor he goes to, and she went to the trouble of finding out his rates and if he’s open on Saturdays since she knows that I live out in BFE . Boring and dry, ain't it? I’m hoping to get some time this weekend to soak in a nice hot bath. That’s my incentive to clean (don’t ask and I won’t te...
