Mamavation Monday: No Hating

This morning I don't hate my scale. Down another 1/2 pound. I'll take it. back to 186lbs give or take a few ounces. I've steadily been losing since getting back from vacation. More travel coming up, which means less control of what goes into my mouth, but I have become a lot better at making smarter choices when on the go. Except for coffee. I know that I probably would make my goal of a full pound or maybe even two if I stopped my ritualistic stop at Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf every morning. It's like my work day doesn't really start until I have that cup in my hand. I could bring coffee from home, which I used to do, or even use the Starbucks machine here at work. But I truly love my regular Cafe White Chocolate. And if Eddie makes my drink he always adds a little chocolate syrup. One of my few indulgences since starting work again is my morning coffee. Ok, enough justifying. I'm just so very glad that I am still losing weight during the holiday season....

No Dunkin' in California

I love California. I hate the politics that are ruining this state and it's economy. And my morning coffee fix.  Personally I am a fan of   Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf , but while back East last month I did as the natives did and ran on Dunkin'. We even brought some K-Cups home. I just loaded the carousel with the last of them so I thought I would see about ordering more. No K-Cups available (it was a long shot), but now you can't order any Dunkin' if you live in California. So I can't even get ground coffee and use the Keurig insert. Important Notice: We are temporarily suspending the shipment of orders to California while we work to comply with Proposition 65 with the State of California. We apologize for any inconvenience. Really? Prop 65 is an environmental act. According to the label on my K-cups box the ingredients are drumroll please  ... 100% Arabica beans. That's it. The flavored coffees have natural and artificial flavors (what doesn...

3/365 Artificial alertness

I got a little behind, but that's ok. I'm learning to forgive myself for being human. In the meantime, I only got about 5 hours of sleep and I'm feeling it. I thought I was going to have to hit Starbucks or Mcdonald's, but bless someone's heart, they reordered the Keurig pods and Kona too! I may be able to function today after all. Off to guzzle my coffee now.

Starbucks has caved

... to the pressure of free Wi-Fi offered up by places like Panera and Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf . So now you can get some work done without being a card-carrying member of the Starbucks nation (of which I am one, but only because they are everywhere and I swear they put something in the mochas to make you addicted....) or without that pesky 2-hour limit (and people wonder why I tether...) Anyway, it's a midafternoon slump, I think I'll go get some Wi-Fi, I mean coffee. Related articles by Zemanta How to Stay Safe on Public Wi-Fi Networks [Security] (lifehacker.com)

It's like morning coffee

Some people wake up, have coffee and read the paper (or their RSS feeds). Other people, like me, wake up, check their twitter stream, make coffee, check stream again, and so on and so forth until the days work begins. I used to panic when my stream wasn't updating. Now I just go to status.twitter.com ; or Mashable . Now, reading things like Update (11:28p): Twitter’s DNS records were temporarily compromised but have now been fixed. We are looking into the underlying cause will update with more information soon only send me into mild annoyance. I'll get my fix sooner or later. And as I am reminded, and sometimes remind others ... you get what you pay for. Twitter is after all a free service. I was at : 1112 E Avenue J10, Lancaster, CA 93535,

Chronic Pain

I am always in pain because it's a fact of my life now. I can deal with the dull, low throbbing. That I can ignore and get on with my life with generally no problem. Then there are days when I hurt everywhere. I wake up in pain. Most often in my back, but lately my back, neck, shoulders, hips, and sometimes hands just HURT! And that much thoracic pain usually causes my IBS to act up. What a way to start the morning. Every morning. And Lord please, the days when my IBS acts up when I am commuting. THAT'S THE WORST, the most mortifyinghorribleembarrasing moments of my life, mainly because I think I have gotten off scott-free for the day. And then, BAM! make a run for the bathroom, the nearest bathroom, any bathroom.   A lot of my stress and high anxiety are caused by my chronic pain and vice versa. A never-ending cycle (not to be confused with the Never-Ending Story ). My chronic pain could be a symptom of clinical depression, but I haven't been diagnosed as s...

Did I do that? Or not?

I can't remember. Didn't I tell you about that? Are you sure? Did I do that? I thought I did. I am really hating the hallucinations/vivid dreams. This morning I had to ask my housemate if I had gotten up this morning and cooked. Because I dreamed it had happened, in detail and pretty much in the order that I later did it. I have full conversations that I remember. I dream/remember doing tasks that I am confused about later when I see that they are not done. And of course, my quality of sleep has started to suffer. Just earlier this morning I was falling asleep at my desk. I'm now drinking (guzzling) a Caramel Mocha frappacino in the hopes that I will wake up. And I have been gently reminded to stop surfing except on breaks.
