How Do They Do It?

At the beginning of the month, I determined that I was going to start blogging daily again. I had just finished a few of Darren's podcasts  and was feeling energized about completing a 31 Day Blogging project. I even picked out a new theme  and was ready to install it when I got derailed. derailed by  waqasmallick  on  DeviantArt A little bit of travel, nearly 1000 photos to sort through and edit (just from that trip, that I am still working on so that I can eventually do the write-up), learning Photoshop and Lightroom all over again Plex server issues, and then just some days where I wasn't feeling creative or motivated in the least. At the end of the work day, the last thing I wanted to do was get on another computer. Most of the month falls into that last category. So, for all the other working single mothers who also happen to be bloggers, how the heck do you do it? I know some of you have blogged about it, but it doesn't seem sustain...

TBT: First Photo Hike

This was the hike I went on that really got me into more D-SLR photography rather than PnS. I can't believe it was nearly a decade ago. Pin It

Wordless Wednesday: Bread of Life

Oh my!

Photographed by David Moyle I never dreamed I could look like this!  I was kind of an ugly duckling growing up -- coke bottle glasses, goofy grin (that hasn't changed), and over all awkwardness that I never grew out of. Suffice it to say, I didn't (and some days still don't) have the greatest self-esteem when it comes to my looks. However, I have known since college that I have a decent pair of legs :D.  A few years ago ( I can't believe it's been years! ) I had a leggy avatar for twitter and about the same time I started hanging out with photographers in Long Beach/North OC. One of them is the amazing David Moyle . We talked about doing a shoot of my legs. He does some breathtaking work . Three years later we finally made it happen. And damn, don't I look HAWT ?!? I want to thank @Jonathan360  (another awesome LB photographer) for suggesting Smash Photo in Long Beach -- because, you know me, procrastinator - couldn't find a studio and there wa...

Photo Friday: Wilderness

Photo Friday: Shade

Full set on Flickr I took this shot on my first Photog Shootout in July 2009. We were getting lessons on lighting.

Photo Friday: People

Clockwise: Oakmonster giving the customary Guiness to Daphne of the Washer Women, random fellow as we exited the fair, sword dancing woman, Moonie, chess game, court dancers, Vikings, The Hunk in the stocks for public drunkeness, the tree dude, my little pig thief, and a random skin covered guy that I saw at the joust. In the center is this year's Queen. I couldn't decide on just one photo for this week's theme -- People. The Ren Fair is a great place to see all sorts of people, shows, and people drinking while watching the shows. It's a miracle we survived the Middle Ages. Of course the Queen rules over all of it. I managed to take a pig thief and a drunkard home too. The highlight for me this year was the Moonie Show. For a guy who doesn't talk much, he sure can make you laugh. You can view part of the set on Flickr and the rest of the photos on Picasa

Photo Friday: Tranquil

Photo Friday: Tranquil Originally uploaded by Nannerlady Yes, I do love desert sunrises. The colors, the sense of peace, the solitude. In a setting like this, with silence, it's almost completely possible to quiet my mind. Pass the coffee please, and leave your worries at the door.

Rainbows and lightening

I just missed the lightening flash.

Fenced In

I recently found a Round Robin Photo site. This week's topic is " Fenced In ".  My neice voluntarily used to like going into my dog's crate. It doesn't help that they are both named Zoe(y).

Wordless Wednesday: Hot gooey goodness

Hot gooey goodness Originally uploaded by Nannerlady Nothing says summer better than s'mores. Ingredients 1 large marshmallow 1 graham cracker 1 (1.5 ounce) bar chocolate candy bar kabob for roasting marshmallow Directions 1. Heat the marshmallow over an open flame until it begins to brown and melt. 2. Break the graham cracker in half. 3. Layer graham cracker, chocolate, marshmallow, graham cracker. It's easiest to get the marshmallow off the kabob (or stick if camping) by sliding it off using gentle pressure from the top graham cracker.

Photo Friday: Aqua

My recent trip to Sea World came to mind when I saw this week's photo challenge. We took a lot of pictures and video using a Kodak zi8 and my Nikon d80 . This shot came off the Kodak since it was easiest for me to get to. The beluga whale always looks like it has a smile on its face.
