Harry Potter is Now an eBook - Nook and Kindle

Imagine my surprise when I opened my email this morning to some news I thought I would never see. Who ever thought this day would come?!? J.K. Rowling has finally allowed the Harry Potter books to be read digitally. According to the FAQ  it's in conjunction with the Pottermore launch. So, go sign up on Pottermore and then buy your Harry Potter collection so you can stop hauling those books around like you have for the last decade. Or order a new set for the kid who isn't going off to college. Also available on Kindle Pin It

Read "Princess of Mars" Before the Martians Attack

With John Carter (by Edgar Rice Burroughs , you know, the Tarzan guy) coming out soon, I got on Project Gutenburg and found the first 5 books for free (which can also be bought online for your Kindle - The John Carter of Mars Collection  (3 books) - but my Nook reads epubs, so I opted to go the free route rather than pay, because, you know B&N offers a similar collection too). Free Downloads : Princess of Mars also as an audiobook   The Gods of Mars   Warlord of Mars   Thuvia, Maid of Mars   Chessmen of Mars I haven't been able to find books 6-11 for free, but I will keep looking. In the meantime, you can read it online , with illustrations at read.gov UPDATE  A little digging around the interwebz helped me find the rest of the series. They are zip, text, and HTML versions at Project Gutenberg Australi...

Likewise, my daughter loves going to the bookstore weekly to increase her selection of series. Her favorite right now is Seekers . Both of them require budgets when we enter the store. I have been buying, sampling, and borrowing books like a maniac ever since I got my Nook Color about two weeks ago ( please friend me! I loan books too ). I'm reading for pleasure again! Barnes & Noble has teamed up with Rovio to bring a whole new experience dimension to Angry Birds , one of the most addicting and mindless games ever created. It's $2.99 in the Nook Color market and now you can get an exclusive free update by going  into  the store. You can only get the update (until s...
