I know it's not Music Monday, but this couldn't wait. I bought the Doowops and Hooligans album a few weeks ago and " Lazy Song " is definitely one of my favorites, I wake up to it on P90X mornings. Tweet Well, it's STILL raining in SoCal. I forget what day it is. I know it's been raining since last Thursday or Friday. My feet got soaked on Friday. Don't wear boots with "flexible soles" if the weather is inclement. And no heel. Flat and comfortable, but the wet socks and feet weren't worth it. I caved and bought her latest album. Miss Perry has catchy, fun beats ( in addition to being freaking GORGEOUS ), and a social message. And I can't get her three latest songs out of my head, though that may have more to do with them being on the radio EVERYWHERE . First there was the summer anthem of " California Gurls ", then “Teenage Dream” (which I don’t want my daughter singing, but it’s still catchy), and now "Firework". I've had the chorus in my head for about three days now and finally went to watch the video and *really listen* to the lyrics. Well, it had to end sometime. The  Autumn Equinox is this week.  Even here in SoCal we observe the end of summer. Boots come out to replace sandals. Jeans and sweaters come out at night. Non-natives start complaining about the lack of "weather" (which, after living 9+ years in Oregon, I maintain is overrated). Ski passes are bought. Some of us mourn the end of summer. Especially when it was so short and went by so quickly that we could barely enjoy it . You may not like Katy Perry (I do, she’s a hoot!!), but I think her song was this year’s summer anthem. My son is constantly showing me new things on YouTube. I think he watches it more than our cable. I missed the 2009 CMT awards and therefore had no clue about T-Swizzle. Why were we talking about T-Swizzle? Because my kids starting singing “ Love Story ” in the car a few days ago … well over a week ago. We were school shopping. I do love that my kids will randomly start singing together. It gives me insight into what they are both listening to. Though I am sure that Josh will deny ever listening voluntarily to Taylor Swift.

Michael Jackson via last.fm Jaw. Dropping. Shock. Speechlessness. Deep Sadness. I don’t want it to be true. How can it be true? I wanted to marry the man (before he got weird). Michael Jackson has been a part of my *whole* life. And now he’s gone at 50. So young. And so suddenly. I don’t usually get all emotionally torn up over celebrities, I mean, they are celebrities. But when you grow up knowing all the words to all the songs, from the Jackson 5 albums, to PYT, to Thriller, to Bad … on and on. He was an innovator, an entertainer, a pioneer. And his music will be greatly missed.
