My Afflation

Now I remember why I hate Apple. Ok, hate is a strong word. Seriously dislike. It's supposed to be a really smart (translation no-brainer) OS that is truly plug-n-play. However, my mp3 player, a Haier ibiza Rhapsody (30GB) , is not even detected as a mountable drive, after hours and hours and hours of trying to get it to work, I finally went over to my netbook. It sees it as an PMP as it should, but (whoops) there appears to be an error and it won't stay connected for more than a few minutes. That being said, the mac didn't detect it all, not even for a few moments. Lots of people pointed me to iSync   ... whatever happened to drag-and-drop? I don't even have an iTunes account! Mainly because I would only get free podcasts and Apple does not need my credit card info for free content (which is why I use Google Reader for most of my podcasts, no worries about content getting deleted either). 16/365 - Windows Vista display driver error Originally uploaded by Nannerlady I'm going to scream. This Acer V173 says it works with Windows Vista. A friend rebuilt my mom's computer and installed Vista. Ask me if I know how to support Vista? The answer is no. Ask me if I know which version of Vista shes's running. The answer is no (ok, she's running Home Premium but I don't know if it's 32-bit or 64-bit). So I'm doing the usual. Since it won't *automatically* install the correct driver for a *Plug-and-Play* monitor I went to the Acer website and downloaded the driver. Unzip it. Reboot. Computer finds hardware. Tell it where to find driver. Guess what?! It can't find the driver. An hour later the correct driver for the _motherboard_ is installed and the yellow error question mark in device manager is gone. I reboot into regular windows and ... that damn display driver error is still there. And her monitor flickers, the keyboard and mouse s...

I forgot how abysmally long the files and transfer wizard could take. And it's all my fault. I have like 20GB of stuff just in My Documents (lots of podcasts and photos). Here's to patience. I guess I can give Joy her bath now and make my bed.

I hope I don't jinx it, but my taskbar just came back along with my desktop and everything. I am soooooo happy! It makes things easier to do.
